3rd brake light problem '86 coupe
Only 1 out of the 4 bulbs in my high mount brake light works. When I put the working bulb in any of the other 3 sockets, it doesn't work. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Does anyone know if the strip holding the sockets can be purchased separately?

You have a hairline crack in the circuit board. No, you cannot buy just the board. Solder a short piece of hookup wire from each pin on the first socket to the second socket and this will jump the hairline crack. You might also look closely at the three sockets for spring tension and cleanliness of the socket pins.

The weird thing is which bulb it is. The wiring comes in from the drivers side of the housing. The socket that works is the third one down (2nd from passenger side) Where would the crack be? The springs are so tight you can barely push the bulbs in without bending the pins.

I have one that is not working. I looked into it and the socket is broken. I haven't found a good solution as of yet, but I'm still looking. I've considered going to the LED's but haven't put it on a priority list yet.
Sounds like you have the same problem. The contacts in your socket may just be sprung to the point where they don't make contact anymore. If so it is possible to gently pry them back to the center of the socket.
