Upshift lite problems
1st off let me say that this is my post and that this forum has been a great read.
My 86 has started displaying intermittent problems. The up shift light blinks on 4 to 6 times during my 45 min commute to work. Also the fuel average display that normally reads around 19 mpg will drop to 1.2 for a moment but not at the same time that the up shift light blinks on. I also wanted to mention that the car doesn't have to be moving when the display acts up.
I've had my Vett since 96 and it's been a great ride! 225,000 miles....
Has anyone had display problems like this? Is it ECM related?

Very likely you have an issue with your digital dash ....
I had mine rebuilt and was told, "Expect 40,000 or so miles before it starts to fail."
Unless yours is a recent rebuild, it's probably startin to die on ya..
If you are mecahnically inclined, you can remove it, take it apart and
just reseat all the conectors (you might get lucky).. Other than that,
your display is probably on the way out... My two cents..

Thanks for the welcome...
I'm not sure if the dash was rebuilt before 96. I've personally put 110,000 miles on and haven't had display problems until recently. Most of my repairs have been related to the engine and drive train. I did replace the ECM a few years ago though.

First off, :seeya and welcome to the forum.
As you've already seen this is a wonderful place full of useful information. You may want to try searching as I am sure you will find plenty on your light and mpg readout.
That being said I'll add to the fray. My upshift light acts similary to yours but my car is an automatic. It is my understanding that this is normal. I cannot comment on your MPG readout. I like to leave mine off, it's depressing to see how much money I can take out of my wallet with my right foot :jester .

have you changed gear ratio's. My light comes on intermittently because i upgraded gears, i doubt that is the case with you but if it is you have to have the ECM reprogramed:( I just ignore it
