Default Leaky lady part deux

I mistakenly posted this question on the C5 forum;
I'm getting old...

A friend at work has a black/black '93 that leaks
rain water onto the right front speaker. He recently
replaced some of the weather seals, including the
front top edge and A-pillars. I've read that this leak
is common. Could it be a non-OEM seal fit? Is there
an adjustment for this? Could it be window fit or
door fit?

What gives?

Thanks.

Mine does this, too. There was a thread a while back which referenced an even older, archived thread that adressed this problem. The long and short of it was that the two metal side trim pieces that fit around the glass should be sealed in place if they are removed (such as for windshield replacement). The idea was that water would get under this trim and run straight down to the bottom of the windshield and empty out on to the door speaker. My question at that time was how do you get this part off without removing and possibly ruining the weatherstrip? The answer I got was that you could even seal the small gap between the trim and the glass with it installed on the car and solve the problem. I've been too busy to try this, though and I don't drive in the rain, so I just dry up the leak when I wash the car :rolleyes:

Does the 'air intake' area at the base of his windshield retain water?

On our 94 Coupe, when we bought the car 2 months ago, the driver side rug under the mat was wet.

We discovered the two drain tubes in the air intake area at the base of the windshield where clogged (area under the plastic screen which also covers the wiper motor control arms). We haven't had the car back out in the rain since, but are hopeful that that was the problem.

Given that the blower motor is on the passenger side, and not to counter the other member's information, it might be possible that water collecting and not draining from the area at the base of the windshield might also cause the leak.

By the way, the two drain tubes are both on the drivers side, one just above the steering knuckle, and the other behind the battery. Ours were rubber with a 'duck bill' end which was clogged with 10 years of dirt in the bottom couple of inches of the tube, but we removed the screen and completely removed the tubes, cleaned them out with water and an old toothbrush and then with trouble reinstalled them (20-20 hindsite -- a hose and small tubing might have saved the removal/reinstall hassle and just have been fed through the plastic screening to de-clog the drain tubes).
