Alternator or...
Could a failing alternator have anything to do with pulling code 42? My battery light is now on and my volts have gone from 14.6 to 10.8. And this is the only code I get. Please help.

hey! mine does that too! sitting there, idling, minding my own business when I see the idiot light flare up and watch my voltage creep down to 10.8. and my alternator is 4 months old! i'm starting to think its a bad ground, cause i get PILES of engine codes. i have a thread going about that and hopefully someone will tell me where to find and fix the grounds. if thats it anyway. i wonder if a horribly corroded battery would cause it? but if you find a solution, please let me know!

Yes, if your alt. is low then you will start to pull a number of diferent codes due to the sensors not having the corect refrence voltage. I would drive the car to a local auto parts store and have it checked right away. There are a lot of places that will check it for free and you dont wnat to dammage any thing.
