What is the difference between a Corvette 350 and a "regular" 350? My Vette is a 1986. I was looking to replace the valve covers and maybe the cam, but am totally confused as to what will work. Most of the parts catalogs I look at list cams and valve covers for 1986 Chevrolets, but don't include Corvettes??
As far as I know there is no appreciable difference between a normal 350 and a vette 350 until the aluminum heads were introduced. One of the major advantages regarding these cars is the 350 and the interchangability and massive amount of upgrades for them.
You will have no problem with the valve covers or cam for your year of vette.

You have to be careful with valvecover to wiper-motor clearance on the vette, as well as valvecover to bracketry clearances on the front of the covers.
Right! And, boy am I glad I've never done that.

Usually, if you turn the page, you'll find the Corvette parts. The parts are the same, but they come with "Corvette" pricing.
On the valve covers. I forget when they went to the centerbolt covers. All centerbolt covers fit all centerbolt style heads. Whether they're on a Corvette or not. The same is true of the perimeter bolt covers. Non stock covers may interfer with other under hood items. Tall covers will likely hit the wiper motor. Check carefully under your hood for items that may interfer, and contemplate whether you may want to move or make adjustments for clearence.
With cams, it is even easier. Roller or flat tappet, is all you have to know. The name "Corvette" poses NO problems, here.
