On Friday my car came back from the body shop after three months. I was ready to drive it hard and Jesse, Corky, and Dave were headed to a track one hour from where I live, Mason Dixon Dragway. I asked Jesse if they would be willing to show me the ropes, "Sure come on down". I'd like to say thank you to all three of them for their help, input, and patience. Oh yeah, and pants. They were patient with all my questions, no matter how basic, which made me feel confident about what I was doing.
Now to the numbers

Along with the spinning tires, the car falls on it's face if you don't roll into the throttle just right, it's the original chip in the car.
I had a great time, many thanks again to Corky, Jesse, and Dave.
:iagree: Welcome to drag racing Steve, you have now crossed over to the DARK SIDE
It was a pleasure to meet you Sunday, it's always nice to see the enthusiasm & energy of someone after their first couple of runs down the track. Now you're hooked!
BTW, I just happen to have a pair of used 275/40X17 BFG DRs on sawblades for sale, let me know if you're interested.

Re: First day ever at the track... (Ski2Tee)
Try it without pants. You'll pick up a few tenths. :jester
I fell asleep on the tree a few times also... too many distractions.
Glad to hear you had fun though... your times will come down in no time. I also went to the track for the first time last week. :hurray:
2 weeks ago was the first time i ever raced a car at the strip also..(have over a thousand motorcycle runs under my belt) and it was great. i too am ashamed to admit i had a 1.1 reaction time , it seems it takes a lot longer for these dam cars to get up and go than the bikes...but last week i finally got the reaction time to the .6's anyway......
i think i stalled the bike at the line once, restarted it and took off and it was still only a 1.2 reaction time... :bb
Steve, it was good meeting you, Jesse, and Dave. Once you get that thing tuned, it will be a monster! Hopefully, I'll be able to join you all next time you are at Mason Dixon assuming nothing else breaks on my '89 :D
Told you it was addictive! It keeps getting worse as time goes on as well.
You'll start talking about .01 seconds like they are an eternity
Loose sleep over .01 seconds...As Dave said, welcome to the darkside.....They say hell is an eternity.....maybe that is where we are at with acting like such a small incriment of time is mountain to overcome. ......one thing they left out about hell, IT SURE IS FUN! :D :jester
Jerkyboy....hope you can make it next time!
jerkboy,
Get that thing back together! A couple of us will be at Capitol on Saturday and who knows where on Sunday, drop me a line if you're coming out.
-Dave, oh how these last couple of days have been killing me!! This weather and no vert!! I am still hopeful for this weekend but as of noon, block's not back from the machine shop. Did Jesse get your chip worked out Sunday?
Damn Dave, I'll just miss you guys on Saturday, I have to go to New York this weekend. Capitol is about 5 miles from my house. Oh well, after showing my wife the time slips and she saw how fast I was going, and especially how fast the others were going, she STRONGLY suggested I get the roll bar put in before racing again. Can't argue with that.
I look forward to meeting up and doing it all over again. It does get in your blood, I've already started a list of "what to bring on track day". And yeah, long pants are at the top of said list :bb
