I know that with the mods I currently have, I won't see any peformance gain but I've been having an exhaust rattle for the past couple years and its only getting worse. I'll be money its my driver side cat and want to replace it. I planned on replacing them later, anyway. I thought about long-tube headers but I think hi-flows would suite me better right now.
I am not familiar with LT1 exhaust system but if your cats are changeable without changing the tubes I also recommend Random Tech which is generally considered the best alternative for free flow race cats. They are free flowing but work just fine so there will be no problems with emissions.
Sounds great guys. Where can I order them from? I tried the usual vendors but got crap when it came to cats. Do I have to order directly from RandomTech?
Here are the part numbers for you:
Corvette 92-95 350/5.7L Left side except ZR1 822701
Corvette 92-95 350/5.7L Right side except ZR1 822702
Maybe if you give those # to your local parts store or maybe http://www.thunderracing.com (who advertise Random Tech cats) they will order a pair for you.
I've got the Carsound cats. $99 a piece from Speed Demon. Problem is they won't work on an auto. There's not enough room for them as the tranny is bigger.
In the long-run, I plan on SC'ing my car and will need longtubes. So I figure I might as well save myself a little money if I can. Would it hurt my car's performance if I go with longtubes now? Or would there not be enough back pressure?

Someone else will chime in with more info but I believe as long as you keep the tube diameter medium to smallish you will not lose any power on a stock setup w/ longtubes and will in fact gain. Don't know the correct diameter though so I guess I'm wasting space with this post :banghead:
Just installed Random Tech cat on my '84. I am now a believer on it being freeflow. Bit louder, but I can live with that Heh, Heh.
Good Luck to you.

If you go with long tubes the OEM style cats won't fit. You will have to go with Bullet cats by Random or another vendor. I was at sema last week and found another choice for metallic substrate bullet cats in the 3" size. Same over all size as the RT cats and half the COST!! and same flow characturistics. 3" metal substrate cats with a 5" round body flows 550+ CFM each. I was told by the vendor that they suggested list is going to be $150 vs Randoms 70300 series metal substrate bullets retailing for $290!
