That's your EGR pipe. Hope you have the end of that tube plugged up, otherwise you'll be venting exhaust gases into your engine compartment.
You can have a bung welded to your headers to stay emissions legal, otherwise you can disable it, and plug it at the intake side, and program your ecm to NOT throw a code for it being disconnected.
I can't get the picture to work and can't picture what you're talking about.
Ok now it works and now i know why i couldn't figure it out. Thats your passenger side. :D That is your EGR temperature switch. You'll need to block the egr passage on your intake manifold.
drivers, passenger, same difference  ok im a retard
the car came with that thing plugged up at the very end where it would plug into the exhaust manifold with a giant spark plug. looks really ghetto so id like to either disconnect it completely or make it work.
what are the consequences of it not being hooked up?
also is there any way i can get exhaust gases to it without cutting into the header?
I took mine off and out of the car completely, and have no codes and no issues....I don't dont have anything that has to do with the smog junk left in mine.....So you would be fine if thats what you want to do.....I have not had any codes either......
I've read that the EGR valve recirculate exhaust gases from the exhaust manifold back into the Intake to help reduce emissions and to help reduce possible detonations by bringing down the combustion chamber gas temperatures.
When you floor the gas pedal of your car, the ECM responds by cutting out the exhaust gas's from going back into the intake so that Performance is not affected by having exhaust gas's going back in the Intake.
Its a good way of reducing emissions and possible detonation under normal driving with the car.
The only 1 disadvantage I've learned with this EGR system is that the intake plenum becomes dirty with carbon deposits and after a wile it will affect performance and will eventualy cause idling problems (this is why L98 engines intakes must be cleaned once every.... hmmm I was told aprox 20 to 30 thousand miles it should be cleaned.

:iagree:
I did mine about 4 months ago, and still no problem. I run a tad rich at wot.
