Crazy electrical stuff
Ok, I've seen some crazy things happen when a car battery got low, but never this. Yesterday the body shop called me and told me the car wouldn't start. I thought it was just the vats acting up again, but it wasn't. At some point I had the ignition on while I was under the hood and the car suddenly tried to turn over by itself. It did that twice. The first time I had my hand on some wires so I thought it was a short, but the second I wasn't touching anything. Is this from the low battery or is something just screwy?

The starter cranks when 12v is applied to the start solenoid terminal on the starter. This is a purple wire that comes out of the firewall connector and goes down to the starter. You would have to pierce the insulation on this wire and apply 12v. You have an abraded wire or one with the insulation torn off. I would trace the purple wire from the starter back up to the firewall connector and see what is going on.
