Default Transmissions

I have an 89 L98 and the tranny is kinda shaky, It sort of rumbles when it's going into third. I think it may be time for a rebuild, but it is an automatic. Is it possible to buy a standard transmission and have it put in? What would the price (of each) be
thanks

I can't help you with the swap but my re-build including a higher stall, shift kit, kevlar composit bands, and additional clutches cost me $1500

You should buy a new one or have yours rebuilt, WITH A WARRANTY.

if youre going the mod route, get information on good builders in the area, preferably from other vette owners, vette clubs, etc. becuz it can be a challenge to find a good builder. Then have them upgrade the soft and hard parts, slightly higher stall TC (say 2000-2200), tranny cooler (a must), and a shift kit. Get a warranty.

If youre not doing much in the future in the way of mods, just get a new 700r4, with a warranty.

did i mention get a warranty?

Yes $1500 total, No I had a tranny shop do it. I would start a thread in the "Southeast" section and ask for tranny shop recommendations/experiences.

Chris
Your timing is impeccable. I'm riding on day four of my new rebuild tranny.
I am totally thrilled with this new beast! What a difference.
They’ll build it to your application. Mine was daily driver/street.
They know what the weak points are in these trannies’s, which is why I opted for a few extras.

Here's what I got.
1 year warranty (not hard parts)
New Beast Sun Gear shell
New Red Devil 3-4 clutch pack
New 2600 stall w/ lockup (furnace tips, etc)
Complete overhaul ( seals,bands,etc)
Great service

The rebuilder has been working in this shop for over 10 years and has over 20 years of experience. They do all types of tranny's
They've done their R&D in 700r4

The car launches like nothing I've ever experienced.
(I'm new to the 2600 stall)
I’m on day four and I highly recommend these guys, tell them
Hank in the red vette say’s hi
