I'm looking to purchase a set of quiet after market mufflers. I've read many articles concerning low interior resonance, aggressive sound, etc., more articles on Flowmaster,Borla,Hooker, Thrush, with little personal input. I know, if you can't stand the roar buy stock....however, I would appreciate
some info from those who know.....or have heard for certain.
Left my Flowmasters on the floor of the muffler shop. Installed a set of Dynomax reproduction mufflers with "quite flow" technology, from Eckler's on my 86. (Found out later I could have saved about $80 shopping around.) Anyway, Now I can hear myself think and hold a conversation without shouting while driving at 60mph.

If you can find a good set off a '91 coupe at a wrecking/parts yard they used a larger muffler in '91 on coupes only that was less restrictive than '84-'90. GM considered them too loud for convertibles, though. I think the sound is perfect, NO resonance but a deep sound when accelerating. They are noticeably larger, but few people would notice the difference when installed on your car. That's what I did, and I'm very happy with them. I was at 20th st Auto in Phoenix yesterday and saw a good clean cat-back (y-pipe and mufflers) for a '91 there that could probably be had for less than $100.
