Why are there two O2 sensors on the passenger side cat? One is in front of the cat the other after. The direct replacement cat I received today has only one bung. IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING!!!
I've never looked before. That is my next job though, I think my cat has completely gone south......makes a hell of a noise under load. Is it a GM relacement part you picked up? Sounds awfully curious to me.
I got them from discount converter in houston. Catco is the brand name. It said it was a direct replacement. I even called and told them it was a 94 corvette LT-1. The pipes are smaller than the stock vette converters so it will probably be restrictive. If I had seen them first I would not have bought them. I took the pasenger side to a muffler shop and had anouther bung added. $20!! I should have gotten the sound car or the random cats.
Oh well, such is life.
now the flanges on the passenger side are 1/2 a hole off, and the driver's side, besides being 1/4 hole off also hit the motor mount bolt. The rear flange on the drivers side is supposed to be tapped, well, it's not. The holes are too big to tap for the existing bolts. 42 miles round trip to the parts store. I'm sending these back. :mad :mad :mad :mad :bs :bs
Like Mojo said, because it's supposed to be there. Spend the big bucks and buy the random tech cats. Straight bolt in ($250ea) or universals ($170ea) your choice.

:yesnod: A couple of years ago I replaced my driver's side cat with a CATCO direct fit. It had misaligned bolt holes on the front flange and non-tapped holes in the rear flange. I see nothing has changed since then. :bs :bs :bs :mad
