transmission problem (auto)--no neutral

just changed cats and exhaust, so I decided to drain the transmission and change the filter/fluid. After everything is back together, I rowed through the gears and noticed that I don't have neutral anymore!!!! OD used to click inplace and not move...it will move now without depressing the button.

Anybody know what might be wrong??

It sounds like a shift cable adjustment problem, to me. Did you remove the shift cable from the trans? Otherwise, you may have inadvertently bent the bracket, with all your activity under there. Good luck, and...

the cable has a bracket that bolts onto the pan (which has to come off) It was moved around a little, but not disconected or anything. I will try moving it around and hopefully it will be back to normal.

OK, I played with the linkage.....nothing changed. I also noticed that reverse is also drive. help!!!!! :confused:
