Thanks for everybodies help in my project. I recommend checking out "Jakes" tech tip if your a first timer like me. I got it right the second time around (1/4 turn past zero lash)with the engine off and confirmed my settings with the engine running.
The note of my exhaust changed......for the better
The car seems to pull more(butt dyno results)
Car is much smoother in the upper rpm band.
I ended up putting in.............
1.6 Pro-Magnun self aligning
16 New valve seals(only 8 on from the factory)
New springs
Ti retainers
10 degree locks
Hardened pushrods
Yanked the guide plates
Based on past butt dyno results, I wouldn't be surprised if I pick up 2mph/.2
thats great contratulations! you certainly went for the best by getting the CC ProMagnums. since they are self-aligning, may i ask why you opted for hardened pushrods?
yanking the factory "guideplates" was a good idea.
Unfortunately when I added my 1.6 RRs I did it in conjunction with a few other mods so I can't pinpoint the exact gain from the RRs. With the RRs, Accel intake, AS&M runners, Holley AFPR, and FMS 24 lb injectors I gained 40 rwhp and 50 rwtq
I don't dyno my mods :nono: I have a little more fun doing it at the track :steering:
Umm.... ok JD? :D I like to do both. It shows me WHY and WHERE I gained MPH or ET. The Ti retainers are good no matter what. A lightened valvetrain is a faster one.
Glad to hear Chuck. I just added mine few weeks ago after my runs with the new heads. They too changed the tone of the car, unfortunately I didn't tune well enough the chip I used a tthe last track meet, and I ended up detonation down the 1/4m, so I didn't beat my best of 113.55Mph. Oh well, guess I'll see you at the track next season.
dyno's don't always tell the story. What you dyno and your mph indicates can be worlds apart for some.
Chuck, if you so choose...Long Island is still open. We can take the boat across and it's 10 minutes from the dropoff point. It'll be a little spendy, but why wait? ;)
