Hello,
I replace the 2 relays and the acctuator that are located mounted on the wheel well of the drivers side and now my headlights open and close properly BUT the drivers side headlight motor spins when I close the lights. It will close the headlight and then just spin until I unplug the motor. :banghead: Does anyone have any ideas about the cause of this particular problem? Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Solomon

I was under the impression the motor turns off when it meets resistance for a few seconds which make sense if a gear is shot. Do you know which one it would be? Thanks for all you help by the way.

Do a search on this topic a few years back a forum member had written up on how to replace the gears bought from a local hardware store, total cost less than $3.00 dollars instead of $25 ...
And Yes, your headlight gear is worn out. The other headlight gear is not too far behind...

On the 84-87 the headlight is stopped by a limit switch located inside the motor. There is a piece that rides on the shaft and sits between two limit switches. When the plastic piece is pushed to the end it opens the contacts and stops the motor.
The 88 and later motors are electronically controlled by sensing the current when the motor stalls.
I would open up the motor and check the shaft. It has a spring that allows the shaft to shift in both directions. Be sure it can move freely. Then look over the switch assembly and see if both of them are OK.

I'm not sure if your headlight system is set up like my 92. Your problem sounds like mine which is fixed by replacing bushings inside the motor housing. The kit is called Headlamp Repair Kit and costs $4.99 from Eckler's. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, maybe tomorrow.
