I have a professional-grade person change my oil in the corvette once a year. For the price of admission I get to stand under my car for five minutes and inspect anything I want. With a pro there, I can ask questions. And I get professional answers.
This is probably the best money I spend on my coupe each summer.
You only change oil once a year?
 You must only drive during summer, and then just on weekends huh? Not to imply there's anything wrong with that, but sitting around alot is not good on oil either, I'd say minimum twice a year???? Regardless of milage driven..... IMHO.......
As far as tire places, I trust my tire guy(he owns six vettes), but I still remove the wheels and bring them in my truck for new tires.
Yeap, they even broke one of the studs on my Impala. What kind of torque does that take!!!
Oh, not to mention what they done in the past to my locking lugs on my Vette. If I'm not mistaken, your not suppose to use an impact wrench on these at all...
If anybody is reading this - do your rotors a favor, and loosen those lug nuts and re torque them the proper value - they sure the heck don't. This goes for those poor drain bolts to!!!
Mabey it is part of the Firestone training because that is where I had my car broke as well.
:iagree:
That wasn't the worst part. After all that they put the front wheels on backwards.
"Please don't break another one, I've been here three hours already."
That was a day, let me tell you.
Sorry to hear ANOTHER story about idiots screwing up a Vette. :mad This keeps me motivated to keep doing all the work myself. Unfortunately, I will have to give up my car to a body shop for two weeks (not going to attempt a paint job myself). I will be programming the PCM for max speed of 20 mph and 3k rpm to give me some comfort.
You should have watched them from the time they turned the key to the time they are finished. Any time I have work done to my car that I can't do myself I'm right there to watch the grease monkey while he does the work (manager lets me in the bay because he knows I'm competent). I had an oil change and one of his new crew almost try to get in the seat without putting the seat plastic cover on it..... :mad , I was in his azz and asked WTF he was doing......he was like what do you mean?.......I said.....your a F mess and your going to get in my fully detailed clean interior with that sloppy greasz azz suit your wearing?.......I said.......I don't think so.......I told him to go get it and he's like.....sorry......I immediately went to the manager (Tim Taylor not related to home improvement.........who I know on a first name basis from previous work) and he immidiately pulled the guy from the job and had Wayne (great mechanic and knows my expectations) pulled from his job to complete mine.........needless to say I treated both of them to lunch...........
Moral: That is the type of place you should try and find.......saves a lot of grief......... :yesnod:
Glad to see that they are replacing it, but still a PITA
