Well it was kind of cold today so I thought I would treat myself and pay someone else to change my oil. What a big mistake the clowns working on my car bent my hood prop into a pretzel then came and got me and said the hood wouldn't shut properly. I swear I had two of the three stooges working on my car. The one guy says we don’t know how to release the hood prop while the other guy was holding up the hood because the hood prop was so bent it wouldn’t hold the hood up any longer:mad . So ask the two rocket scientist what they did to make the hood prop take the new form and they try and say that is the way it was when the car came in, now mind you the hood was propped open with neither Frick nor frac around for twenty minutes. So I got a bit loud and explained they have had the hood up for the last thirty minutes and the hood prop was so bent there is no way it could have held it up. The manager comes over at this point and asks what is going on and I show him the prop and he immediately said they would replace it. Well the good news is At least they will replace it the bad news is I have no way of holding my hood open to replace my TB this weekend. I will say it again, Never again will I try and save a few hours on the week end, any work I can do myself will be done by me.
:chill: I need one of these
Sounds like these bozos tried to push the hood down to close it without knowing about the little push in stud on the strut. Yet another of the numerous posts about the fast lube oil change shops f@%# things up. And even worse are the clowns lying about it beeing like that when it came in. Who do they think they are kidding? :skep: Never had my oil changed in one and never will. Seems like they hire just about any shmuck who can remove a drain plug and screw on an oil filter. :nono:
Hey! Atleast they opened the hood. I thought SOP at those places, was drain the oil and send you on your way. I had a scissors prop, turned into a pretzel, by a shop that did a VERY expensive trans job. They acted like they deserved a medal for welding on it and fixing it for no charge. Like they weren't the ones that screwed it up, in the first place? Yeah! Right!

I have a professional-grade person change my oil in the corvette once a year. For the price of admission I get to stand under my car for five minutes and inspect anything I want. With a pro there, I can ask questions. And I get professional answers.
This is probably the best money I spend on my coupe each summer.

Sheesh!! I didn't know about this either!
Mine just lifts up and pushes down.
I stand corrected, 88 and up did not have the push in stud on the strut as far as i know . Makes me wonder even more what the hell these clowns where doing.
I've never taken either of my cars to one of these quick-lube places, but I did once go with my brother when he had the oil changed in his 2000 VW Jetta. And let me tell you, the absolute BUTCHER job these moronic goofs did to remove the oil filter off of his car was sheer torture just to watch! I will never forget the terrified look on my brother's face as we watched these idiots work - especially when you figure my brother only had the car for about 2 months! Eventually, they got the filter off and replaced it with a new one, but not before badly deforming the under-radiator front tray, and bending 2 of the hard A/C lines. Lucky for those brain-dead zombies no real damage was done and everything worked fine.
When we finally left the place, my brother and I where absolutely speechless. I finally broke the ice when I turned to him and said "Now you know why I change my own oil!"
He's never been back to one of these quick-lube places since.
I change my own oil, but twice and out of time, I had a lube place grease my 87. The first time they missed the rear fittings. The second time they missed 2 of the front fittings. They won't miss any more because I do it now.
Last time I put tires on it I got new valve stems put in too. Well one wheel now has wrench gouges arround the valve stem and leaks down about every 3 or 4 days, the other three still have the old valve stems. :mad
Wheel sensor broke right off the rim here...By the genius at Firestone, and of course they had to flip the bill. Mind you I told them several times how not to through it on the machine, and start ripping… Did they listen to little old me? Well it cost them 150 bucks.
Now I literally stand over them at BIG'O' :), and I bring the tires in. Who the **** knows what those impact wrenches are set at.
Oil changes, oh HE** NO - I never let anybody do them on any of my cars.
I even used the free coupons from the dealership as coasters.
 :lolg: Jokes belong in OT! :lolg: There is no such thing in this world!
Actually there is, but teh professional grade person I speak of is a good friend. I still do my own maintainence, but he helps me with stuff I've never done before.
As far as those oil change places go, do you even know what kind of oil and filters they use?
As far as tire places, I trust my tire guy(he owns six vettes), but I still remove the wheels and bring them in my truck for new tires.
