Timing and Knock sensor
New chip is in and I would like to get as close to optimal timing set before I dyno again. Will the knock sensor detect knock before I can physically hear it and retard the timing? I am sitting at 6*BTDC now and I'd like to push another 2* max. Should I just wait for the dyno? I don't have a scan tool to check counts

You shold not be able to hear the knock (ping). The sensor will detect it and pull timing before it becomes audible. Without a scan tool or software, you won't be able to tell if you are getting any counts.
