Default C4 Computer tweeks...

I just want to know what is the best and cheapest computer chip on the market today. Im looking for a 10-20 hp gain or more. Also, I have seen those things where you just plug it in the OBD or something like that and you can pick many differ levels of power. Can that work with stock vettes? as well as tuned vettes??

10-20 HP ???

I doubt GM would have left that much sitting on the table with just chip programming.

Do the free mods and save your 150 - 200 for something more substantial.

You won't need a chip until you have done some significant modifications that will alter your fuel/spark table requirements. Spend your money elsewhere for now.

Harsh but true...

Buy a shop manual... learn to make your engine (as well as the rest of GM's concept of a car) work well. Get that puppy in 100% working order.

Then you can concentrate on upgrades.

Slapping on $2K worth of heads, cam, cr*p on piece of poopie car isn't going to help matters.

There is no "plug-in" that will make your car produce more power. Learn how to make your vehicle run as best as the factory meant and you'll beat 80% of the wanna-be's out there.

Check out the Tech Tips on this site for a few ideas on some free mods. Just be aware that at times people can "stretch the truth" about how much they help. A few hp here, a few there, it'll still add up eventually.

If you can find one on Ebay for $20 then it is worth it (that is what I did :) ) I liked mine because it boosted the TCC engagement to a higher speed, felt better in stop and go traffic. Spark advance helps too. I would think more with the LT1 engine because you can't set base timing. On my L98 you can just bump base timing up (and that helps ALOT).
All that said...I decided to see if there was any difference between my Hypertech Stage II and the stock programming so I did a 0-60 test with my G-Tech unit. I averaged about 5.5 seconds 0-60 with my Hypertech, and only 6.1 with the stock chip! Seems like a big difference to me. Only other mods are in my sig.
