Actually, I agree with you completely that building a ~500HP N/A motor w/ low compression is the best way to go first. This is what I've always suggested to people who are looking down the road.

O.k. now about the blower. I don't agree with you about roots or screw blowers being "The way to go" for any engine. Keep in mind the 32V OHC heads flow excellent, but give up torque down low. It's always a trade off, so YES roots blowers are the way to go for OHC heads, because they will make up for the lack of torque.

Now, on a OHV 2 valve per cylinder engine low end torque is not as much of an issue. The bottle neck is going to be up top, and in the higher RPM's Centrifugal/turbo make more efficient boost than roots blowers.

Again, this is a general observation. All motors are different. It depends on your motor.

I know this is a little bit off the topic, but I thought some of you guys might be interested in hearing about this. I put a Vortech S trim on a 350 LT1 F body with ported LT4 heads/intake with the hot cam and it made 478rwhp and 420rwtq. This was with 6lbs boost and intercooled. These numbers are also sealevel corrected as we are at 4400 ft. And that is partially why he can run that much compression+boost on pump gas. It did pick up 116 rwhp and 72rwtq over where it was N/A.
