I would like to know how much power my transmission can handle. It's a th700r4.
I've got a supercharged l98 vette with about 450bhp do you think it can take it??
There are quite a few threads on this. Do a search. I do know that Corkevette1 and Ski_dwn_it both make close to 500hp and run the 700r4s. Just be sure you have a tranny cooler.
I am installing 700r4 in my car with an anticipated 400rwh with my updated 383, I have been told I should have no problems.
I'm on my fourth 700 trans. Two rossler's didn't last more than 5000 miles each. My local shop did one that lasted well over 25K and needed freshening. The right convertor and a tranny cooler is the key. Keeping the fluids cool keeps them alive.
heat and mis adjusted tv cable those 700 r have to be adjusted correctly or they will eat themselfs up it is not a kickdown like in other trannys it is a connected to a pressure valve that controls line pressure directly
