Re: Tpis mini ram, how much hp is it worth? (94 M-6)
Maybe with the right mods but I doubt that it would do even close to that with a 52mm throttle body. Especially the one on that manifold now, it appeares to be damaged as I see welding on it. Plus I noted in your signature that you have a 94 LT1 car, it won't fit on your car. Plus your GM LT1 manifold is very close in design to that Mini-Ram. Some people even says that GM got sued by TPIS for that LT1/4 intake design.
Re: Tpis mini ram, how much hp is it worth? (86PACER)
75 - 95 on a stock motor isn't probably to far off. The miniram is a replacement for the Tune Port Injection on an L98. Since most stock TPI L98s start falling off at about 4800, it is quite possible that the miniram could put out 95 more horses at 5200 rpm.
Its not made for an LT1/LT4 and as Tjwong said, you wouldn't see any increase even if you could get it to fit.
Re: Tpis mini ram, how much hp is it worth? (94 M-6)
:skep: I really doubt if it'll make 95HP more, unless there's a supercharger connected to it. You would see an increase, but at high RPMs, and at a cost of low-end power.
Re: Tpis mini ram, how much hp is it worth? (Curveit)
heh, i didnt know it wouldnt work on an lt1...i just happened to stumble across it, and thought it would becasue of how it looked, as in just like the lt1 intake...
If it had made 95 hp on a stock lt1, then i dont know why anyone wouldnt do that instead of a supercharger....but now it makes sense. thanks for the info
Re: Tpis mini ram, how much hp is it worth? (krivera)
so how much tq did hte l98 cars have? the stock 93+ lt1 has 340, i cant really see the l98 having much more if any...
okay i just thought about things here, now take a 89 l98 for example, i think made 245 fwhp. So if im able to put an lt1 intake on one (im guessing its difficult due to what is said above) and i pick up 85 hp (on a stock engine), that makes for 330hp? How can that be right?? Why would anyone want an lt1, let alone an lt4??
Re: Tpis mini ram, how much hp is it worth? (94 M-6)
I'll see if I can explain
Its an 95 hp gain at a specific RPM (and this is also probably with the proper cam)
Let me explain, let says the stock TPI maximum hp is produced at 4000 RPM (245hp) and at 5000 RPM it drops down to (200/190/180 hp). Then its possible with the Mini ram that it would add an extra 95 hp at 5000 RPM, and bring it up to 295/285/275. The mini ram is meant for high RPM power and at the lower RMP's it will make less power then a TPI.... so in essence you'll lose that Torquy feeling you have when you floor the gas pedal at low RPM "witch is were most of us drive our car in the city anyway's".
The mini Ram reaches its full potential around 6000 rpm and up.
Since the stock TPI Cam is grinded to meat the stock TPI air intake, you would have to change the Cam for another one that matches the Mini Ram.
It basically depends were you want your power band to be, high, midle or high RMP. The Stock TPI is Low, and the Mini Ram is High.
If you want something in the middle its the SuperRam that your looking for, and the super Ram also Includes a specific Cam made for it.
If you have an automatic tranny, low and middle power bands is better, and if you have a manual then you have the luxury of going into the high RPM's.
You cna go into the high RPM's with an automatic tranny, but it would requirer having the computer chip reprogrammed and when you think about it, this isn't very conviennient.
I hope I explainned myself well enough for you to understand.
Ps: the hp numbers I gave aren't actual numbers, I just invented them to explain myself.
