Default Another exhaust question

I am getting ready to change my exhaust. I have a 1990 Vette, but the exhaust is a '92-96 (dual) chambered style exhaust. I have a decent amount of bolt-ons (including a Mini-Ram) and the car is putting out pretty good power. If the new exhaust pipe diameter is 2 1/4", will this choke up the engine as far as the power is concerned? I have TPiS LT headers on there with muffler elim's. Would I be better off staying with the "factory style" set up?

Thanks,
Jeff

If you still have stock heads & cam 2 1/2" duals will likely be fine as it has nearly 1 sq. in. greater total pipe area than a 3" single pipe.

However, take a close look at those pipes; if they aren't mandrel-bent the bends will be somewhat restrictive.

If you want to stay with a stock style 93-96 system they are 2.75" tubing and the only restriction is in the rear muffler section. The tubing from the cats up was 2.75" right through the resonator.

It is an aftermarket chambered exhaust system. The pipe diameter is 2 1/4" and that is what I am worried about. I am pretty sure that I am making well over 300 hp.

Thanks,
Jeff

If you are making more than 300 hp, I'd want bigger exhaust than 2.25" :yesnod:

IMHO I would find me a take off LT4 system, and they are out there. Call LPE they use to have lots of take off systems lying around being sold for CHEAP! Then get a set of high flow rear section mufflers install on it. Or as you seem to like a lot of noise you can option for some muffler eliminators. That would let your engine breath with 2.75" pipes all the way back.
