Tranny guys, quick question
84 in driveway with trans pan off, removed filter grommet that was stuck in housing. About to install filter and gasket. Will torque accordingly.
I bought a fluid called Lucas which helps slipping, would you add it to fluid.

Make sure you get the old seal out of the filter hole, I've only done seven tranny's to date, but everone of them had a stuck grommet.
I don't know about adding anything to the fluid, probably couldn't hurt, but I don't think it's going to make much of a difference.

The old seal was stuck in the housing, I carefully removed it and installed the new filter. One of the 13 mm housing holes is striped which is way the previous owner had a longer 13 mm bolt up in there. I'm not leaking any fluid, but will tap the hole to the next larger size.
The fluid change appeared to have fixed the slip I was getting at 40 mph.
I'm hoping the problem was the filter, although the fluid looked okay the filter was dirty.
