If the service engine light comes on, then there should be a code in memory.

If that SES light ever comes on, then a code is set. Next time it comes on, shut off the car immediately and jumper the A&B terminals in the ALDL port, and the SES light will flash Code 12 3x and then the engine code. Pull that before you do anything.

Stalling would seem to me to be MAF-related, or perhaps a bad vacuum leak. The IAC and TB should be cleaned also if it hasnt been done before. That is, if you did the tune-up right.

Thanks for the help. But I checked the codes. Only code 12. If you watch the selective ride light it flashs code 12 and 14. Seems to get worse as the engine temp goes up, and I get a backfie thru the exhaust. Call myself looking for vacuum leaks. The only possibility is the line pass side rear of intake, near notch for dist. cap. The nipple turns but will not tighten. Small, short line, 3" long maybe. Fuel pump ??????? :banghead:

i had the same problem a couple of months ago. i had fuel and spark and no codes were being tripped, that's because the ECM went to poop. was anything acting strange on the digital cluster? right before mine went, the miles per gallon averages and instants would go from 0 to infinite (9.9).

The problem gets worse when it gets hot is the clue. Do you have access to a scanner (like autoxray)? I'd be looking at the sensor readings when the rough running occurs. ie :CTS It sounds possibily like a sensor is crapping out. Another thought is a bad coil.

IT is very possible that either the wires you put on there or a plug, more likely, is faulty.

I would put all the old stuff back on the car, I know its a PITA, but if it idles fine, then you know it in those components. Either take them all back and get different ones, or start putting items in one at a time till you find the faulty component.

BELIEVE me, just because its new, doesn't mean it can't be bad.
