Default 2.10 for the street?

I know that clearance is an issue and that at some point you will be limited by your type of exhaust and intake manifold, but is there any reason that 2.10 intake valves should not be used. A friend has a set of aluminum heads that are set up for 2.10 and was thinking about getting new heads. Is anyone using this large of an intake valve?

Thank you

I see from your sig that you have an LT1. If you friends heads are not specfically LT1/LT4 heads they will not work, and I'm pretty sure you can't put that size valves in these heads.

Another reason that 2.10s may not be a good idea is that in order to install such a large OD valve it is necessary to offset the location of the valves, in aftermarket heads. And if that is the case you can't use standard rocker arms and would have to install shaft mounted rocker arms. Not only is this very expensive but getting valve covers to clear accessories is another problem. If you are installing these valves in a stock heads there is going to have to be substantial machine work to the heads. And on all but the nasty engines 2.10s are not really needed.

tj it depends what they started out as you can go 2.10 intake if they were origanally 1.94 1.50 or smaller and go larger on intake and smaller on intake

i might be wrong, but i've heard that oversized (as in to big for head, not bigger than stock) can cause problems because they "lead" air right into the edge of combustion chamber (hence why we unshroud valves)

I use a 2.100" intake valve and a 1.65" exhaust valve. But like others have said it generally requires offset valve spacing. Mine are .150" offset and require specially offset rockers; I use Jesel shaft rockers...
