There's the LT4 hot cam which I use by GM performance parts, it's awesome but it does scream up there in the RPM's. Comp cams makes several cams what people refer to with cc304 cc305 or cc306. Take a look at them on comp cams web site, they offer the widest range of cams for hyd. rollers.

What other mods do you have or intend to do along with the cam or in the future?

Remember that if you go over .52" total lift (as you will with 1.6:1 RRs and either the 219 or ZZ-9 cams) you will need double springs or perhaps the newer conical design I believe some have used.

I'll say it again, make up a long-term goal and stick to it.

Do NOT pick a camshaft until you make some kind of long-term goal.

Good point, something else to consider in researching a cam is emmissions testing. Some cams apparently fare well while others struggle to pass testing. Just a thought to confuse things a bit

The big question is do you plan on keeping the stock TPI unit or going to a different unit like the superram or miniram later on?

For your goals the LPE 74216 cam with those 1.6:1 RRs would work well.

To finish off your street machine you should plan on pocket porting those heads in the future.

While you are working on the intake manifold consider the siamese base, say a 1" high x 2" deep cut. You will still have good low end with a nice increase in top end. With that cam and some head work you should pull nicely to 6k RPM. Check out the before/after dyno pulls on my site, link in sig. below.

So, when you do the cam & RRs it would be a good idea to spring for Ti retainers with 10deg locks (keepers) and toss those stock tin oil shedders that are atop the stock valve springs.
