I was told to do the crossfire, to carb switch over i would need the following Fuel reg., tv cable bracket, lock up kit, air cleaner, intake, carb, and HEI distributor. Now I got every thing on that list including all gaskets, ACCELL plug wires and AC delco plugs, and all oils and filter. Is that all i need to make it run good?????
Also one more thing, i dont have the distributor yet I am having trouble finding one cheap. I have spent a lot of money on this so i am trying to find a cheap dist for now. Now can i use my 84 vette one and just change the cap no do i HAVE TO GET THE HEI?? And any one got one for cheap or know where i can used or new let me know thanks.
I'm not sure why you need to change dist but you might try Contemporary Corvette (link on my site, see sig. below) for a used '85 or later Vette HEI dist.
If gonna be using a carb and no longer using the factory computer to control the enfgine, don't get the "computer controlled" hei. Get the one with the vac advance. That's the one with the big fat coil in the center and a silver round dish/saucer lookin' thing on the side. Lots of GM cars have that dist. Should be readily available. Can even go to an autozone and ask for a rebuilt unit. A V8 version. My first car was a 77 camaro and it had one. You will be able to "curve" the advance to your preference with different springs for the weights. Do you have to get the hei? Not necessarily, you could get the external coil version. You would have that square yellow accel coil(an example) bolted to your firewall.
