Default A mold wheel question...

Can anyone tell me the diff. between AFS & AFR wheels?? I have a set of AFR which I've had for years on my '90. Just picked up a set of AFS from another forum member & from the outside you can't tell them apart. Inside is quite a diff. story.... Just came in today so I have yet to have one of each broken down to check the actual weight & other dimensions.

Thanks!

 Didn't know there was a difference. One seem "heavier duty" than the other?

I guess you could call it that. The AFR have larger air pockets on the back side between & around the wheel lug holes. I'm guessing a little lighter in weight due to that. Otherwise the AFS have paint & the AFR are clear coat on the back side.

I am quite undecided now on which wheels to keep & which to pass on to Dave at RD...

Put them on a scale. A lighter wheel is better for drag racing. A few pounds won't matter around town.

I read a post once where a guy claimed the differences were in the metal alloy used - some places use cheaper (and thus heavier, I guess) alloys. Made sense to me. Maybe do some searches and see waht you can dig up.

Hope I helped! :seeya

Just a ttt for any further input...

If I keep 2 of each, where would you mount the heavier wheels, front or rear?
