Re: Can you have "codes" without the "SYS" light (jackdaroofer)
I'd check for codes since the ECM can set a "soft' code and you may not catch it. The SYS light will go on due to an intermittent fault but will go out after 10 seconds.

Re: Can you have "codes" without the "SYS" light (jackdaroofer)
Check with MAD ...as screwed up as those folks are, they'll probably try and sell you a e-brake harness that plugs into your seats so it will launch you through the windshield when applied. :D
Re: Can you have "codes" without the "SYS" light (vinnies87)
You can simply check for codes by jumpering the A, and B pins on the ALDL. I use a paper clip for this. Have been for 8 years now, and it works great. By jumpering these two pins the fan will come on and any codes the ECM has seen, whether displayed or not will be flashed. The SYS light will flash say 3 quick times then pause, then flash 3 more quick times. This is a code 33. It will flash each code 3 times then move on to the next if there is one. If there are no codes pressent then it will blink a code 12.
