Default Problem installing accel ultra-lite high torque starter.......

I have purchased an accel ultra-lite high torque starter, model acc-05000.
Well this is supposed to be the proper fit high torque for my car(85-manual)
The bolt holes line up, but it does not completely cover the starter opening.
with the starter in place you can literally stick your hand in under starter and touch flywheel? It seems like there should be a one inch block spacer of some sort, because the starter gear and the teath on the flywheel are not
lined up(way off)? I looked it up on several different sites and they all claim this is the starter that fits my application. I Would appreciate any help i can get. Thanks, Kevin

Are you talking about a vertical seperation (gap) or a horizontal one ,ie is it too low or toofar forward?

Its a vertical gap, it seems like the starter is mounting to high up.
