The other day while filling up i was checking my fluids and noticed brown antifreeze in my coolant overflow bottle. When i got home i checked the bottle with a light and what did i see? It was a dead mouse floating in the coolant!
After removing the bottle and the mouse i cleaned the bottle out. The bottle is now clean and new green coolant is in the bottle.
To my knowledge ive never left the cap off of the bottle and the three little holes in the cap are way too small even for a mouse. This mouse must have been in here since i bought the car so at least 3 years.
I wonder if it died from poisoning or from drowning.
Those little suckers are amazing. They'll squeeze through a 1/4 crack under a door. I've seen 'em do it. If they can fit their skull through they can fit their whole body. My dad hangs his boat cover on a line in his pole barn (thinking it would be too hard for mice to get in) and those little buggers somehow got into the cover. Never underestimate a mouse!
Re: Mouse.... how did you get in there? (rag93vette)
Two years ago I had mouse problems. Put out Decon, the mouse crawled into my Vette's exhaust and died. For months every time I would drive my car, I would smell burnt mouse.
However, how the mouse got into your coolant overflow bottle is a mystery.
