Code 43. Bad gas? I wonder...
I had not driven my 93 Ruby for a while and the tank was pretty low (less than a quarter of a tank) and my SES light came on intermitently. Checked with my scan tool and it showed code 43 (spark control failure; knock control circuit). Filled up the tank with Chevron Supreme and drove it around a bit and no SES light. Hmmmm. Maybe stale gas or a little water in the tank?They lowered the octane rating here in Nevada to 91 a little while back. This is one those things that can end up with a guy scratching his head. Voltage on the sensors checks out, connections all seem clean and secure. Befor I replace the knock sensors (expensive little dudes), I think I'll drive it for a while and watch to see if the light comes back on. Anybody else ever have this problem? :confused:

If you have further problems let me know I have the diagnostic charts if you need them. Its hard to say what it was, a corroded connector at either the PCM or the knock sensors would cause this as well.
