It needs to go in far enough for the piston to touch it, or "stop" against
it. Then, what you do is turn the crank until the pistons "stops" against
the bolt or stop device, and put a mark on your balancer relative
to some point (like the timing tab). Then, turn the crank around the other way
until the piston goes down and comes back up against the stop and then
put another mark on your balancer aligne with the same reference point.
