Ever since I had the dealer replace my front rotors and pads, my car seems to pull slightly to the left when braking. Also I noticed that the wheel on the driver's side has huge amounts of brake dust while the other three are clean. Any ideas?
New pads require the pistons be seated fully into the calipers, where the have not been in many miles. That area can become corroded over time. The best cure is to replace both calipers.

Re: strange front brakes (65Z01)
It sounds like the left side caliper is sticking.

 Generally you and I are in 100% agreement, but on this issue, I might want to reserve judgement. :D
I have had this problem myself and found several problems...wheel improperly torqued...anti rattle thingies improperly installed...pads improperly installed as in pads not flush and fully in contact with caliper, bad brake hose that didn't release line pressure at same rate as other wheels and last, but not least, new roter is out of square or a new roter was never installed!
Not saying you aren't right, just that there may be some things to consider. the cylinder behind the piston perhaps can corrode, I guess, but I would look at some othe things before I dropped trow for new calipers :D
Like I said, we agree 99% of the time and this is not a disagrement either :D

:withstupid:
 Please don't take offense, but neither one of us is "stupid" So I will not even try to quess who you agree with! And this is not an "American Idol" deal, so we are not keeping score! Since both of us are going in the same direction and may well reach the same conclusion, how did you conclude that one of us is stupid?
 If you have an opinion, please state it! I am sure you are not doing this, but some people simply push icons to run up their post count. That really doesn't add anything to the body of knowledge on the Forum!
:D If you have something to add or comment upon, please do so, we all may benefit
I'm really no expert but is it possible that the problem is because he might have a brake fluid leak on the side when no dust is present and all the stopping power is going to the rotor/pad/caliper that has no leak?
Just an idea, please correct me if this doesn't make any sense
How about air in three lines without dust and none in the one with. It can happen. Or only a small bubble in the one with dust and much bigeer bubble in the others.
Often times the problem is on the opposite side of the "pull". Could be that the right caliper is not engaging properly and causing the pull to the left. Another possibility is that the pads are not yet bedded. In the absence of knowing for sure, you may want to consider taking a ride to an abandoned industrial park, and doing a series of increasingly aggressive slow downs from 30, 40, 50 mph. (You must warm up the rotors, so don't do Banzai runs right off the bat.) Once you have done the procedure, drive the car for 15 minutes on a highway or other road where you won't need the brakes and can therefore cool them down. If this was what was needed, you will notice it the next day for sure.
Thanks for all the info, I guess its back to the dealer. I wonder though since I never had any brake problems until they worked on it if they would bear some of the responsibility for the repair? I will take that wheel off this weekend and take a look. :chevy
I read the symptoms to say: no brake dust on 3 . This tells me these three brakes are not applying brakes at all. If this is so, all you people who say calipers need to reevalute.

I think that all the brakes are applying, but one on the driver's side is not releasing and is causing the extra brake dust. Afterall, IGOFASTERINMYVETTE says it pulls to the left as well. He didn't say if it was left front or left rear that was excessively dirty, but it doesn't matter. It will need to be replaced or rebuilt

Hell yeah! If you weren't having troubles before you took it to them and now its pulling to the left, then complain to them!
IGOFASTERINMYVETTE, I had faith that your dealer did the job right but it wouldn't hurt to inspect the job as anyone can make a mistake. Maybe you can spot something obvious as the problem cause.
I wouldn't however try to bed the brakes if they are pulling to one side.
BTW, did the brakes pull when you drove the car home or did it develope/worsen over time?
I was babying the brakes when I first got it back because the weather was not that great and I know I needed to bed them, then the car sat for a while. It wasn't until I tried the first strong stop from about 50 that I noticed the pulling. It doesn't pull during normal around town driving.
before the new front rotors and pads, there was brake dust, but not excessive amounts. The car is not driven a lot this time of year so I would say that the amount of dust on the other three is normal, but the front left is black with dust within two days and it's a chrome wheel. I need to take that one off and at least look at it.
