Default 84 Muffler / Eliminator

Interested in any other 84 owners with recommendations on eliminator pipes or mufflers. Would appreciate part numbers and brand purchased. I would like much more resonance than stock :chevy

I think I am going to buy the http://www.madvet.com/shop?frame=1.119.992. I don't have the money to buy a full exhaust sytem so $280 sounds good, since they claim 25hp!

84 and 85 share the same exhaust system.

On my 85, I've ported out my exhaust manifolds, removed the smog/air lines, capped the air injection lines, installed a high flow 3" carsound cat, a 2.5" mandrel bent dynomax rear y with crossover tube, and muffler elims behind that.

Interiorwise, it sounds no different than when I bought the car, (then it had all stock exhaust but monza/kbd glasspack rear mufflers.)

under the throttle, it screams nascar style, has some nice popping/glugging noises under certain conditions, and resonance isnt a problem. At 2400 rpm, theres resonance, but I usually cruise at 2200. I think the crossover tube, and having the tips extend past the rear bumper all help reduce resonance.

Wait, you must have your terms mixed up. Nobody wants more resonance. Resonance shakes the car, and plugs your ears up. It makes it impossible to hear the exhaust, and unmanageable to drive it. You want more noise.. more rumble.. that's different.

I have a 95 and I know that is not what you are looking for but here is what I have done:

I took my car to a local muffeler shop where they cut off my mufflurs just after the Y. On a 95 the Y and mufflers are all one pipe. Then they weilded on an exhaust clap to the exhaust pipe. They made a three inch pipe and attache a nice dual chrome tip plus another clap. Now I can bolt the two pieces together for an easy install.

In NC you have to have mufflers so when I get the car inspected I can just unbolt the straight pipe and bolt up the mufflers.

My suggestion is to take a look at a local muffler shop and see what they can do for you to make the muffler eliminators.

By the way, They are loud and yes you do get resonance inside.

Good luck
