Id like to know that too. There are quite a few slotted rotors on ebay that are very affordable to me. Are they a good way to go?

F/R slotted rotors for $229 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2454260325

Fronts only: $110 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2454293813

They seem very reasonable and look good. How does just changing the rotors compair to changing the whole system?

One more question... Is it better to get slotted and cross-drilled?

Drilled and/or slotted rotors is sort of an on-going discussion here. My opinion is that for normal street use the low-end drilled rotors look neat and will work great. When you start to REALLY abuse your brakes (especially track days at courses that are hard on brakes or high-speed autocross events), these drilled rotors will crack and possibly fail. I run stock rotors for track days and don't really have a lot of problems. In fact, I get the local parts store lifetime guarantee ones for cheap, run them and then take them back and complain about them only lasting a few weeks. I get another set for free and on my way again. I just don't make a point of mentioning that thy only miles they accrued was on a road course :D

There some drilled rotors that will stand up to extreme use, but expect to pay a lot for these. The low-end drilled rotors have the drilling done after casting and that is the problem. The drilling procedure weakens the iron and becomes prone to failing. High-zoot rotors usually have the holes cast in and then simply machined as part of the finishing process.

Slotted rotors may be a good middle ground for occasional HPDE days or autocross use. You can find lost of discussion over in the Autocrossing and Road Racing section. Use the search function with "slotted rotors" or "drilled and slotted" as search terms.
