Default Exhaust question?

I've been looking around at exhausts for my new 94 corvette. I don't have any experience with buying exhaust systems for any of my cars, so it's a new thing to me. I was wondering what you guys think is a good exhaust to get... I was kinda looking at Borla and Magnaflow, but I dunno, I need some advice. also should I get a high-flow cat and/or headers [at the same time]? maybe some links would be nice.

Also I keep hearing about the "open airlid" with the K&N filter...I know it has something to do with cutting a hole somewhere to allow the intake to suck in air better, but I don't know what that involves... sorry I'm such a newbie but everyone is at one point in time right? :D are there any other free/cheap little mods to do to improve my car?

Any help is appreciated!

Open lid is when you take off the air lid that covers your filter, and cut a big square hole in it so the filter surface is exposed. Thats all.

Exhausts are only different in sound, Corsa is probably the best for the LT1/4 because it has no resonance problems (loud drone when cruising) and still screams when you stand on it. I personally like Power Effects best though.

You dont really need a hi-flow cat, unless the stocker is clogged up, not on an LT1 anyway. Headers, you can get the Exotic Muscle or Hooker or whomever, but only get longtubes. If youre not sure you want headers right now, then wait awhile, its always best to hold off on a major mod until youve driven the car for some time.

Thanks very much for replying Vader! It is much appreciated. yeah I have a LT1. For the corsa exhaust, would it be best to get it online somewhere like this? then have a local muffler shop install it for me?

LT headers will not be legal since there are none with a CARB number on the market.

From the cats back you can do what you want save for local noise ordinances.
