Default "Free Mods" L98 Question

Well I have to replace my clutch disc this weekend and while it's up on jack stands I figured I'd do some mods...

1. Gutted main cat
2. Removed frisbee
3. TB Bypass
4. Removed smog pump

What will I gain?

Ok, here's a SWAG:
1. Gutted main cat - maybe 5chp
2. Removed frisbee - 10chp
3. TB Bypass - 0
4. Removed smog pump - 5chp (realy a guess here)

How about gutting those two pre-cats in the front Y, though I'm not sure how much this would gain. I did my front Y, cat & cat-cack at once so don't rely know the individual gains, but the sum realy adds up.

I agree with replacing front y-pipe and pre-cats. Did mine and it definitely felt like there was some gain. Also gas mileage improved greatly. (3-4 mpg avg).
good luck

You beat me to it!!!!

You will gain some parts to put in a box in your garage, and probably lose about 15 lbs.

I would say max HP at the crank 10, which is not noticeable, you will however rev up a slight bit faster without the Air Pump and frisbee, and the gutted cat will make it sound like you gained 100 hp.

FYI- I did every single free mod on this forum and gained .3-.4 seconds from a 14.1 bone stock, thats not bad, but its the next .5 that will be harder!

Dont expect a whole lot from the freebees, just enjoy doing them, and it will set you up for Stage 2!!!!
