....grind sometimes when it's in reverse? I should mention that I've only noticed this when the transmission is cold, but that's sort of inherent I suppose, because that's generally when "reverse" is used - just after the car's been started! The 6-speed is much more "notchy", I've noticed, than other manuals out there, but my reverse gear is borderline ridiculous. Sometimes I feel like I literally have to fight it into gear, and there are times my wife can't even get it to go.
Yes, let me first say my knowledge on transmission is extremely limited, so if this serves merely as a bump to the top. Let it.
On that note, I also have a weird grind just when cold when going into reverse. (Though on a 4+3 instead) I remember hearing that the reverse synchro was actually tied into the 1st gear synchro and thus that might be the cause of the problem. Hopefully someone will respond with a solid answer but maybe this can provide some insight. Good luck!
Sometimes i grind the gears in reverse... seems like it doesn't want to go. I think that it has so i start to let out the clutch and "wwhhhiiizzzz" ... push in the clutch and move the shifter real quick... Just hard to get it into reverse sometimes if the gears don't mesh just right.

I did that once myself... Scared the hell out of me...
Yeah I know. Which is why now when I start up the car, I run the shifter in and out of 1st 3 times. And it slips right into reverse. Give it a try!
