well, we just got the new battery for my 87 corvette, and we connect it and we start to hear a buzzing. it sounds like it is coming from the drivers side of the rear spare tire. We thought it was the fuel pump so we put some gas in, put the battery back in and it still goes. even when the car is off, just the battery connected. I dont know what it is, can you help.
Also, when the battery is connected the lights on the inside wont go off, the ones on the doors.
The only things "buzzable" in that area would be the fuel pump and ABS pump. Throw a fuel pressure gauge on it and see if somebody hotwired the fuel pump. Or perhaps the fuel pump relay is stuck on.
This is going to sound a bit harsh.. but force it down wile you have the battery connected and wile its making the busing sound.
I can't promise it will want to come back up though, but at least the buzing will stop and then you can look into replacing the motor.
Mine sometimes won't go down, but it doesn't make any buzing sound... I just push it down a bit and it goes back down.
It normaly always come back up when I turn on the radio though witch is why I don't really care for changing the motor yet.
If the antenna doesn't want to go down you can remove the carpet by the rear hatch latch and there is an electrical connector there you can unplug for the power to the motor.
Also, when the battery is connected the lights on the inside wont go off, the ones on the doors.

The door lights can be pushed like switches....they even say "push" on them..
