You'll need a 36mm socket for the spindle nut and a torx-55 for the hub bolts. Removal of the halfshaft will give you more space to work with, but is not a must. Tighten the spindle nut back to the proper torque. Search the archives - this subject has been beaten to death.

I didn't have to remove parts in order to do it. You'll have to get your rear up kinda high to be able to get any leverage to break the 3 T-55 bolts. In fact I would spray those puppies. Mine were a biotch to get out.

If I remember correctly, I only removed the caliper. And as stated earlier, get it up high as leverage is king.
3/4" impact didn't faze the axle nut= 6 feet of pipe did
1/2" impact didn't faze the torx bolts=16 inches of pipe did
This job requires grinding your teeth, so put the mouth guard in now :jester

:iagree: that was the hardest part of the job. It's easier if you have an assorment of extensions and universal (swivel) adapters - I had to keep trying different combinations of tools until I hit upon one that fit and also gave the leverage to break the bolts loose.

What kind of pathetic impact wrenches are those? :jester The Torx are only 65 ft/lb while the 36mm is 3 times that. My 1/2" impact buzzes the 36mm off like nobody's business.

You'll also need a new cotter pin to replace the one that is over the spindle nut. The brake caliper I think is two 19mm bolts. You may also need a rubber mallet to get the brake rotor off if it hasn't been off in a long time.
