Default Dash board question.

In the front of the dash where the defroster is, I never really looked on other vettes, but is there supposed to be a grill or vent of some sort there. On mine it looks like an empty space where a grill would fit perfectly. thanks

example.. Look at this pic. Does anyhting go in the center hole pf the dash?

:lurk: This has me wondering also. I thought that when I first pulled the dash, there was a plastic grill in there, and that I'd lost it... But I'm not sure if I only lost my mind.

Yes,there is a screen? attached to the vent duct that has clips that attaches to the outlet. It stays on the car,at least on my 84 it does.

So am I missing a piece or is it mounted under the dash?

if you dont have the grill. you probably are missing something. Its probably not mounted to the dash, but rather to the vent, but still is visible from the top/outside.

Yes there's a plastic grill underneath; not part of the dashpad and there's nothing on top.

Just replaced my 87 dash last weekend... and the screen is attached to the vent works... When you install the dash it just bolts to the screen...
