quick Carpet question
I am repacing the carpet in my 86 is the factory carpet suppose to be mass back? I've pulled the rear cargo areas carpet up and its not mass back like the new stuff and it has that fiber insulation pad under it. I was thinking it might have been redone at one time.

I can't say for sure. I replaced all my carpet last year with mass back. I think the kit came with nine pieces. I worked at it on and off for about a week.....took it slowly and installed sound/ heat insulation at the same time. A good project for beginners........not too difficult. The hardest part was getting the old carpet off the undersides of the dash and the sills.

I just went back out and looked at it again and it does have a coating on the back side its just not as heavy as the replacement carpet I bought. The new stuff is really stiff! What did you use for insulation and sound deading? I was going to pitch the stock stuff I really don't care for it I know there's better stuff out there besides when I got the car there was water standing on the floor in front of both seats! I've never changed carpet in one of these cars before so I'm going to take my time and do it right. I will probably get to the dash and sill pieces tomorrow they look like fun!
