Wiring Diagram needed...
Guys,
Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the shifter setup. There are wires for the ECM to know what gear the car is in etc. I would like to hook up my new shifter sometime soon and would appreciate any help determining what is what down there.

Sent a scan from my 1987 manual. Its a fairly large file (400kb). I don't know if it will help much. It only shows one wire coming from the shifter to the ecm. I'll see if I can find a more detailed schematic that shows the "internal" wiring of the shifter itself.

Just curious ------- are you anywhere near Franklin,PA ? My sister used to own a bakery there. I am originally from the Pittsburgh area (McKeesport) and spent my highschool years in Altoona. BTW, I may require your chip expertise when I finally finish my 383 that I've been slowly putting together.

Yeah we are near all those area you speak of. Altoona is about 1.5 hours from me. Go there shopping, or should I say the wife does :cry :D :jester
Pburgh is about 2.5hrs....Franklin about 2hrs.

If I remember correctly, the wire is for the neutral safety switch. On the 89, 90 the pressure switches in the valve body tell the computer what gear it is in.
I can send you a copy of the diagram out of my manuals if you need them.
