New, probably just under $600 with NO FRILLS. There may be cheaper kits now, but I haven't priced them in quite awhile. Do a search and you are sure to find tons of info. Good luck!!!

You will be looking at about $600 for the kit but the kits only come with the minimum pieces to make it work. BUT to make it work PROPERLY you will need to buy additional components (purge system, bottle heater, bottle gauge, overpressure blow off for the bottle) The kits that you can buy (atleast mine) do not include these items. By the time I was done with my system I had $1000 invested.

I agree with the fact that it costs more than $600. That is starters :skep:
Do it right or wait until you can. If you blow your engine it will be $5000.
Plan on $1000 o $1300 :steering:

I personally don't think that a heater and a purge valve are necessary. The gauge is nice to have, but the kit still works without it. Even a vent tube isn't necessary in my opinion, but a worthwhile piece, my kit came with one. If I was going to spend extra money, it would be in an ignition system and possibly a low fuel pressure cut off. (hobbs switch,= cheap) If consistency is key, then yes you will need some other features, but to run on the street, a basic kit will work. Yes I have other safety features, but with modest amounts of nitrous, a good understanding of how it works, and a solid engine, you should be fine. Good luck!

The bottle pressure is the most important part of making a nitrous system work correctly. Without the bottle heater to rasie the pressure in the bottle and the gauge to monitor it....your wasting your time and money. If you plan on doing any racing at a drag strip you may need the blow off and vent tube or they may not let you race.

I agree with you on the purge solenoid and blow off, but not the bottle heater and gauge. Will it work with out these items....YES, but properly....NO

Look at it this way.....A "just filled" bottle will be at approxitamately 900 psi, after each shot, the pressure will continue to decrease. The bottle heater is used to heat the liquid nitrous in the bottle so the pressure in the bottle goes back up. Most systems need a minimum of 900 psi to work properly.

The way I see it, 90% of the kits out there are probably not tuned to the specific vehicle and therefore the kit is usually calibrated to run rich as a safety margin from the factory, so those kits are not being run "properly". My point is, that on the street, I don't run my bottle heater (or purge) every time I get in my car. If you decide on a whim that you are going to run the nitrous, that heater won't help you in time. So who cares what your gauge says, when it's time to go, I flip it on and it gives me what it gives me. I was making close to 200 exta rwhp with my kit in perfect conditions, and if I run it with the bottle pressure alittle low and only get an extra 100 hp out of it, so be it! That being said, bracket racing is a hole different bag. If you are going to be consistent with nitrous, you probably will need a heater (if rules allow) and a purge and a gauge, and a blow of tube that expells the gas outside of the vehicle unless the bottle is mounted outside of the cabin. (check rules on that as well) You have to decide what you want to get out of your nitrous use and that should tell you how to spend your dough. Good luck!

I just looked up the rules for the NHRA ET Pro class (12.00 sec and slower) and external heating of nitrous bottles is prohibited.

Now that is being thrifty. Shows what a little research can do for ya. A window switch for $50.oo is also a worthwhile piece. Great job!
