Can someone tell me if part number SPL30-2x is interchangeable with 5-800x? I was told they are the same dimensions except the SPL # is extra Heavy Duty. Thanks for any help.
I know that the 5-800x is definately for alluminum drive lines. I just need to know if the SPL30-2x is interchangable. I have looked high and low and can't find a Spicer part number cross reference. Thanks for the help guys.
I was told about two months ago that they were changing and upgrading the parts and numbers. Where did you get that PN and can't they cross reference for you  I can probly find out for you on Monday or you can call Six States at 503.249.1010 and they should be able to answer the question :jester

I ordered the "U" joints from my local parts guy. I try to give the local guys a little business from time to time. When I picked them up he had 2 of the 5-800x and 2 SPL30-2x. He assured me that they the same size but that the SPL ones were a new part number and were extra heavy duty. They look identical and they have the same markings. If you can find out on Monday, that would be great.
The 5-800x and 5-786x are still operative numbers according to Six States. These numbers are now being preceeded by SPL on the improved new product.
The SPL30-2x "rolls" to the 5-800x on their screen. As Corvette 0096 mentioned above the guy did state that the information on the "coating" used for the aluminum driveshaft application is not clear to him. He did say that he could call Dana tech to clarify, but wasn't really jumping out of his chair to do so and I let him go.
I did find this on the net and you can probably find a way to contact Dana and get the info. I didn't have time to jump through all the hoops. http://www.dana.com/technology/services/
Spicer, you can find a link to this off the page I posted. This is the only contact I could find so far.
