I am getting a code 42 (spark control code) after swapping to a 165 ecm, from my 6870. Has anyone had this code, or can anyone point me in a direction of diagnosing the problem??? Thanks
The first step is to see if the connector in the tan/blk wire is in tact.
If you can access the ECM pins you can verify that:
-the By-Pass voltage is non-zero: ECM pin D5 & dist pin B
-the EST voltage is varying: ECM pin D4 & dist pin D
-the Reference voltage: on ECM pin B5 is the same as at dist pin C
These tests should isolate the problem; likely a connection.
