headlight help... gears are gone!!! need some input
Well guys,
finally hit by the headlight bug... the motor turns and white powder falls out of the transmission... need some advise on where the best place to get replacement parts ad a general list of what usually needs to be replaced! any help would be great!

Sounds like the gears are gone... you can get a rebuild kit from MAD... there are alot of posts here... too bad the search isn't working.... someone will chime in tho... :yesnod:

Have a look in the C4 Tech Tips, I think there is at least 3-4 articles to help you out :)

thanks guys... yeah i noticed the search was not working today was only reason i posted the topic.... found a tech article by corvette fever magazine.. described my predicament exactly.. ordered the plastic bushing replacements today... hope to have everything sorted out soon!

haven't had it happen in my 85 yet, but when my old firebird had that problem, I took apart the assembly and dumped epoxy in any damaged looking areas. had some stripped out plastic gears, made a nice powder. Dunno if its the same mechanism with C4s/80's firebirds, but hope it helps :)
