Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is your best choice. I work in the tire industry and have done competitor analysis of many UHP tires.
It is designed by Goodyears Luxembourg technical center in europe.
It is probably the best 'wet' UHP tire on the market out there right now.
It is silica tread (most UHP tires are silica anyways), and the tread cap has the highest hysteretic loss properties (ability to generate heat which is a good that friction will quickly be generated during braking) of any tire I tested during the study.
Also, it has an aramid (kevlar) spiral overlay which should make it very responsive in turns. I dont think any other UHP tires out there today still use aramid anymore due to costs.
Other good tire choices for wet (but not as good as the GS-D3) include:
Michelin Pilot Sport
Kumho Ecsta MX
Bridgestone Potenza S03
Firestone Firehawk SZ50 (great tread pattern, patterned right after Firestones Indy Car 'Rain' Tires)
BF Goodrich g-force (not the 'KD' model though since that has an emphasis on dry performance, kinda like goodyears eagle f1 supercar tire)
I think some corvetteforum members might have reviews in the 'reviews' section. I think all the reviews were very positive.

Re: Help for choosing tires (dizwiz24)
I have the Kuhmo MXs, good tire at a budget price.

I just had Kumho Ecsta MX installed this weekend. Great dry performance and today with the rain in california I did not experience any slip on the freeway. I had Goodyears till now but after extensive reading on the forum I felt that the Kumho were the best bang for the buck.

:iagree: I've had mine for almost a year. 1 autox and somewhat aggresive driving. I still have the 2nd rotation dot showing
i have the firehawk SZ50's
and am very happy with them....
they seem to hug and stick to the road a heck of alot better then the Nittos i used to have.... :steering:
I just got a brand new rear set of GS-D3's. Not only does the tread pattern look great, but the tire is beefy. They're noticably wider than my last GSC's, and both are 285's. Only got them about 4 days ago, but so far I'm loving them, and I know they have a high "wet traction" rating. btw, i payed $540 for both rear 285's, mounted/balanced/installed. This was at a private owned tire shop, Goodyear was charging I think $15 more/per tire.
I've had Firestone SZ50's on my '85 in the stock size for the past 35k miles. They handle great in the wet and the dry. If I stay with my stock wheels I'll definately buy another pair.
